Criss Cross Hungarian is another one of my go-to stitches in the toolbox because it's so versatile as a background or even in smaller areas and I love using an accent color for the small crosses. From a distance this stitch gives a woven effect and is extremely fast and easy to stitch! When compensating, make sure you're noting the direction of the stitch for each row.
